Good Morning Britain star confirms exit and replacement ‘I’m retiring from public life’
GOOD MORNING BRITAIN is undergoing a huge shake-up as one presenter has revealed they’re taking an indefinite hiatus form the morning news show.
Showbiz reporter Richard Arnold will be taking a well-earned break from co-stars Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid in the New Year following the festive season.
Arnold broke the news on Good Morning Britain today in a miniature heartfelt speech.
"I'm retiring from public life,” he told millions of viewers. “I’m disappearing for a while – who knows when I'll be back.
“You know what it's like in this business."
While fans mourn their beloved reporter, they’ll be delighted to hear that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Iain Lee will be filling his boots in the mean time.
Lee was seen in Arnold’s dressing room ready for his new role, albeit a little prematurely, drawing bears on pictures of his predecessor.
"Hello Richard, Iain Lee here," he teased. "I'm only filling in for you for a couple of weeks so please don't panic.
"I haven't got time to get my own publicity pictures so I'm just colouring in the beards here. Saves me a bit of money. Have a great break by the way!"
However, Arnold wasn’t laughing: “There he is in my dressing room. Oh wow. Already settling himself in on my pleather with my fan art – the only piece of fan art I own.
"He's 'temporarily filling in' – we know what that means in this business. That's showbiz!"
The news comes after Rylan Clark-Neal confirmed he will be taking a break from showbiz duties on This Morning, being replaced by I’m A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
