The Crawford Community Center was packed full Oct.15, as the Dawes County 4-H Program “Saluted the Good Life” at their annual achievement celebration. Current members, leaders, volunteers, and supporters were honored during the afternoon program as everyone joined together to share food and fellowship.
An election was held to fill five adult positions on the Executive Council and two youth positions. Clint Phillips, Jera Boeselager, and Jodi Sellman were re-elected for a second term with new members Marisa Betson and Crystal Vander May joining as first term members. Madison Cogdill and Katie Lewin were elected to fill the open youth positions.
One of the afternoon’s highlights was honoring the Senior Royalty made up of outgoing seniors and crowning a 4-H King and Queen. This year’s royal court included Wyatt Davidson, Pamela Fisher, Kylee Garrett, Cody Madsen, Renee Redfern, William Tidyman, Clayton Vahrenkamp, Morgan Staudenmaier, Beau Jersild, and Drew Jersild. Kylee Garrett was crowned queen and Cody Madsen the king. Karsen Stokely and John Fisher served as crown bearers.
Nomination awards honoring individuals or businesses that made a significant impact, impression, or contribution throughout the year were awarded to the following: Suzanne Davidson, Key Leader Award, BJ Dunn, Helping Hand Award, Dan Rhembrandt and Bill Riggs, 4-H Appreciation Award; Jake Tollman, Outstanding 4-H Alumni: Del Hussey, Heart of 4-H Award; Abby Dyer, Youth Leadership Award; Jake Lemmon, Outstanding 4-H Member of the Year; Jake Sellman, Outstanding Jr. Leader of the Year; Happy Hustlers, Outstanding 4-H Club of the Year. The Executive Council also surprised Nebraska Extension Assistant, Terri Lemmon, with a plaque for Extraordinary Service to the 4-H Program.
